Businessman Tamir, who runs this company, while talking to BBC says that the products made from these locusts taste like walnuts, mushrooms, coffee or chocolate. Tamir says that it is not that we are bringing a new tradition of eating locusts. People of Arabia have been eating it for a long time. Apart from this, people of Asia, Africa and Central America have also been eating insects for protein for a long time.
Better for increasing population
Experts claim that this kind of source of protein is better for both humanity and the environment. Actually, the world’s population is increasing rapidly. According to an estimate, the number of humans on earth will reach 9.8 billion by 2050. In such a situation, it will be almost impossible to fulfill the protein needs of every person. If animals are slaughtered for so many people, then this will increase the carbon footprint in the environment and methane emissions will also increase, which is not good for the earth in any way.
